Spooktacular Cooking Class

This Halloween, we had the pleasure of welcoming personal Chef Angelica to our Community Kitchen to host a fun and interactive kids’ cooking class. In keeping with the Halloween theme, Chef Angelica prepared a fresh, caprese salad and a black fried rice dish. To add a spooky twist, she shaped the mozzarella pearls for the caprese salad into skulls with the help of the kids who got the chance to help melt the cheese and mold it into these skull shapes. Once shaped, the mozzarella was topped with fresh basil and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. For the main course, Chef Angelica made a black fried rice packed with colorful vegetables and proteins. The carrots and peas colored our plate, and the kielbasa was cut into fun, squiggly worm shapes for an added spooky touch. This Asian-inspired dish was a huge hit with the kids, the shapes, colors, and smells all added to the fun. The kids also enjoyed  being hands-on in the kitchen, getting to help create their own meals in such creative ways.
