Good eating habits start early. Since 2018, SOS has been bringing free, hands-on nutrition and agriculture education to schools and childcare sites throughout the Florida Keys - teaching kids where food comes from, how it grows, and why it matters for their health and their community.

Teaching Kids About Food, Farming & Healthy Eating
In 2018, the SOS Foundation began providing nutrition and agriculture education at school and childcare sites throughout the Florida Keys. The curricula incorporate a hands-on aeroponic Tower Garden component, which provides the opportunity for learning about agriculture and food systems in Monroe County’s unique island setting. Each lesson also includes a healthy snack, exposing students to new healthy foods.
Research shows that early exposure to nutrition, agriculture, and environmental education leads to long-term healthier and more climate-friendly food-related behavior.
