Learn About This Program

In 2018, the SOS Foundation began providing nutrition and agriculture education at school and childcare sites throughout the Florida Keys. SOS currently offers three nutrition and agriculture curricula. The curricula incorporate a hands-on aeroponic Tower Garden component, which provides the opportunity for learning about agriculture and food systems in Monroe County’s unique island setting. Each lesson also includes a healthy snack, exposing students to new healthy foods.

Research shows that early exposure to nutrition, agriculture, and environmental education leads to long-term healthier and more climate-friendly food-related behavior.
